Empowering Organisations Through Workplace Learning Excellence

 

The National Workplace Learning (NWpL) Certification, developed by the National Centre of Excellence for Workplace Learning (NACE) led by Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP), and supported by SGC, is a national initiative that recognises organisations in Singapore for their workplace learning practices and capabilities.

 

Purpose of the Certification:

The NWpL Certification aims to help Singapore-based companies implement progressive workplace learning practices, thereby enhancing workforce performance and improving employee retention rates.

 

Certification Levels:

Organisations can be awarded one of four certification levels based on their workplace learning capabilities which reflect the maturity and effectiveness of an organisation's workplace learning system:

  • Workplace Learning Organisation of Competence
  • Workplace Learning Organisation of Competence (Silver)
  • Workplace Learning Organisation of Competence (Gold)
  • Workplace Learning Organisation of Excellence (Platinum)

Benefits of Certification:

Certified organisations may receive several benefits, including:

  • Eligibility for the Manpower for Strategic Economic Priorities (M-SEP) Scheme, organisations awarded the NWpL Certification Organisation of Excellence (Platinum) or Organisation of Competence (Gold) may apply to hire S Pass and Work Permit holders beyond the industry quota.
  • Nomination for the tripartite Human Capital Partnership (HCP) Programme, providing your organisation faster response times and higher service standards via a dedicated hotline for transactions with the Ministry of Manpower.
  • Recommendation for the SkillsFuture Employer Award, awarded by SkillsFuture Singapore, highlighting your commitment to promoting a culture of learning within the industry.

Assessment Process:

The certification process involves:

  • Consultation and Preparation: NACE provides free consultations to help companies enhance their workplace learning systems and prepare for certification after completing an initial self-evaluation.
  • Application and Assessment: Upon a successful application, NACE, in partnership with the Singaporean-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (SGC), conducts site visits to assess the organisation’s workplace learning culture, capabilities, and efforts.

With reference to the German and Swiss models for workplace learning, the National Workplace Learning Framework encompasses six components essential for workplace learning excellence: Strategy, Leadership, Planning, Training Needs Analysis, Environment, and Implementation & Processes.

Fees:

Certification fees start at $2,800, payable to NACE.
