SGC's Round Table Discussion with BMWi and GIZ

Recent reports have warned that ASEAN could fail to meet its growth targets if it doesn't adopt a sustained strategy to get rid of barriers of trade. However, against the current backdrop of trade tensions and global uncertainty, ASEAN remains committed to free and open trade and regional economic integration.

Technical barriers to trade in the ASEAN region were discussed at our latest roundtable with Mr Helge Engelhard, Mr Boris Boehme, both from the BMWi, Mr Johannes Braun from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and our members companies.

On behalf of the BMWi, the Global Project Quality Infrastructure (GPQI), initiates and implements political and technical dialogues with selected partner countries. They aim to reduce existing technical barriers to trade, promote market access and fair-trading conditions and improve the quality and safety of traded products. GPQI is implemented by GIZ.
