The state stands out due to its high productivity and innovativeness. Alongside enterprises with global operations like Bosch, Mercedes Benz, Porsche, SAP or Hugo Boss, thousands of successful small and medium-sized companies drive its economy.
Over 6.3 million employees are working in more than 460,000 companies. A good 1.5 million of them work in industry and, contributing a share of 33% of our national gross value added, it is they who ensure that THE LÄND is the largest industrial hub in Germany, and also one of the most important industrial regions in Europe. To all those who want to be part of this: there’s a very good chance you can be! More than 115,000 vacant jobs (as of May 2024) are an open invitation!
THE LÄND enjoys an excellent global reputation as a high-tech, industrial and service-oriented location and occupies leading positions in industries that traditionally typify the German Southwest, such as mechanical engineering, the automotive and healthcare sectors as well as information and communication technologies. Future technologies also present significant growth potential: artificial intelligence, quantum computing and green technology.
Baden-Württemberg is not only Europe’s no. 1 location for innovation. It is also among the top locations for science and research globally. This is not only because of its numerous universities, non-university research institutions and knowledge transfer centres, but also because of all those clever minds from industry and society. Their recipe for success is collaboration. A good 71% of local start-ups are supported by established companies – and vice versa. In 19 regional AI labs, and Cyber Valley, Europe’s largest consortium in the field of AI research, people from different disciplines also work together on research into future issues.
Excellent career opportunities and the highest quality of life sound good to you? You'll find them in Europe's No. 1 innovation region – in the sunny southwest of Germany. Welcome to THE LÄND, welcome to Baden-Württemberg!
Our state representative office for Baden-Württemberg supports with you any enquiry you might have in relation to THE LÄND. Whether it is about finding new business partners among the rich ecosystem of startups, SMEs or MNCs, setting up your business in Baden-Württemberg, finding research partners or going abroad for studying – we are your first point of contact and will help you to connect with the right people.
