Meet the Chamber
The SGC welcomes its new members for this year in a gathering at the German Ambassador's Residence. The 'Meet the Chamber' is an annual event to let new SGC Members introduced them to the SGC and its services, made known its Board Members and Committee Chairperson as well as SGC Staff. 

Special Breakfast Talk with Ms Barbara Kux, Siemens AG Board Member, Chief Sustainability Officer on Sustainability - A Triple Win
Ms Kux (c.) said that the challenges posed by climate change and environmental degradation, aging of society and rapid urbanization need to be addressed properly and soonest. 

Executive Luncheon: 20 Years after the Wall Came Down: Successful Singaporean-Eastern German Business Relations
The SGC co-hosted with Germany Trade and Invest (GTaI) an executive luncheon at the St Regis Hotel on 2 November 2009. The luncheon highlighted successful business relations between Singapore and Germany with focus on the eastern part of Germany.

Luncheon with Singapore Foreign Affairs Minister George Yeo
Mr. George Yeo (c. top pic), Minister of Foreign of Affairs, Singapore, was the guest speaker in a luncheon organized by the SGC on October 27th 2009, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. The topic of the luncheon was “Is Europe the future or Europe the past?” 

Breakfast briefing on Are there opportunities in China?
Mr Juergen Kracht (c.), Managing Director, Fiducia Management Consultants was the invited speaker in a breakfast briefing organized by the SGC. It took place on 9 October 2009 at the Orchard Hotel Singapore. Mr Kracht spoke on the topic “Are there opportunities in China?” He gave an overview of China’s economy and its development and explained the current situation with many examples.


Breakfast briefing on Influencing Strategy for Leaders
Mr Günther Witt (c.), Managing Director; Trainer, Attitude & Skills Pte Ltd gave some very interesting insights on the topic “Influencing Strategy for Leaders”. He said, to implement certain changes in a company a manager has to understand the principles of change and motivation. 

Luncheon with Prof Tommy Koh, Ambassador-at-Large, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Singapore
Prof Tommy Koh (c.), Ambassador-at-Large, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Singapore, was the VIP Speaker of the luncheon organized by the SGC. It took place on 18 September 2009 at the Orchard Hotel. The topic of Prof Tommy Koh’s speech was “The End of the Cold War and Its Impact on Asia: 1989 to 2009”.

Participants enjoyed the food and drinks offered by the organizers Singaporean-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (SGC) and German Centre (GC), during the B2B networking on 27 August 2009 that took place at the German Centre lobby. Participants could use the evening to extend the network and get to know new business contacts. 

Luncheon with Prof Dr Norbert Walter
Prof Dr Norbert Walter (c.), Chief Economist of Deutsche Bank Group and CEO of Deutsche Bank Research was the guest speaker in a luncheon organised by the SGC. He spoke on the topic "Financial Market after the Crisis Worldwide recession - how deep, how long?". The event took place at the PanPacific Hotel Singapore and was attended by over 160 attendees. Prof Walter was conferred the Honorary Membership to the SGC for his strong and unwavering support to the Chamber. 

Luncheon with Dr Gerd MüllerOn July 30, SGC organized a luncheon with experts from the food industry for Parliamentary Secretary of State, Dr Gerd Müller. Singapore was one stop on his Asian trip to China, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. The Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection supports German Food companies to get a better presence in Asia.


Energy Efficiency Symposium - Made in Germany 2009
Over 200 participants took part in the Energy Efficiency Symposium - Made in Germany 2009. The event was organized by the SGC and it was held at the Marriott Hotel Singapore. Trade delegates from Germany (bottom most pic, r.) informed attendees on their latest products concerning energy efficiency technologies. Dr Amy Khor (topmost pic, c.), Senior Minister for Environment and Water of Singapore was the guest-of-honour. 

SGC Breakfast Briefing – Update on Transfer Pricing Recent Regulations, Audit Environment and Planning Opportunities in China, Korea and Singapore
Mr Luis Coronado (c., standing) and Ms Cornelia Wolff (r., standing) (Ernst & Young Solutions LLP) informed participants on transfer pricing regulations, audit environment and planning opportunities in China, Korea and Singapore. 

SGC Monthly Luncheon with Dr Beh Swan Gin, EDB Managing Director
Dr Beh Swan Gin (c., l.) Managing Director of the Singapore Economic Development Board was the guest speaker in a luncheon organized by SGC. He spoke on the impact of the economic downturn and Singapore's response to the economic crisis. 

B2B BLACK
The B2B BLACK Networking night jointly organized by the SGC and the German Centre was a big success. B2B BLACK was proudly brought to you by Landesbank Baden-Württemberg (LBBW). The award winning group Guitar-Ensemble of the Jugendmusikschule Pforzheim e.V (JMSPGE) from Germany was the evening’s special guest and highlight. Participants enjoyed the food and drinks and they could use the evening to extend the network and get to know new business contacts. 

Breakfast Briefing – “Labour Law Issues in the current crisis”
Dr Claus Trenner, Luther LLP (c.) spoke on the applicable laws for the termination of employment which are Individual Employment Contracts, Collective Agreements, Employment Act and Common Law. 

Singapore Tripartite Forum Luncheon
The SGC hosted a very special luncheon, featuring the Singapore Tripartite Forum on 18 May 2009. It took place at the Pines Club. Invited guests were Mr Lim Swee Say, Minister Prime Minister's Office and Secretary-General NTUC, Mr Gan Kim Yong, Minister for Manpower (MOM) and Mr Stephen Lee, President SNEF.

B2B was once again a big success. Participants could use the evening to extend the network and get to know new business contacts. Everyone is invited to join the next B2B on 25 June 2009. 

SGC AGM 2009
The Singaporean-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (SGC) held its 5th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 24 March 2009 at the Marriott Hotel Singapore. The SGC elected its new sets of Board for 2009 and they are tasked with promoting and improving the existing business ties between Singapore and Germany.

Mr Ronald Lee (c.), Chief Marketing Officer, Sembcorp Parks Management Pte Ltd (SPM) spoke about the business opportunities in Bintan, Indonesia. He informed participants what SPM does and why it is reaching out to other countries.

Breakfast Briefing on The German Company Law Reform 2008 & Important Legal Updates for Businesses in Germany
Dr René-Alexander Hirth (c.), Attorney-at-Law, Partner (Asia-Pacific), Luther LLP gave a presentation about The German Company Law Reform 2008 & Important Legal Updates for Businesses in Germany. 

Luncheon on ‘Financial crisis and its impact on the real economy - focusing on emerging markets’
Dr Herbert Stepic (c.), Deputy Chairman of the Board of Raiffeisen Zentral Bank and Chairman of Raiffeisen International Bank Holding, spoke about the cause of the global financial turmoil and how to fight this crisis. 

Breakfast Briefing on the Singapore Budget 2009
Mr Choo Eng Chuan (l., 3rd frm l), Director of Tax at Ernst & Young Singapore and Mr Luis Coronado (c., 2nd frm l), Partner International Tax Services/Transfer Pricing were the guest speakers for SGC’s breakfast briefing on the Singapore Budget 2009 and Transfer Pricing, respectively. 

Breakfst Briefing on Developing a Coaching Culture in your Organization (Leadership in Transition)
Mr Tony Latimer (r.), President, International Coach Federation, Singapore & Mr Klaus Nienhaus (c. r.), Executive Committee, Public Relations Chair, ICF Singapore spoke of developing a coaching culture in organizations and how it can benefit them in the long run. 

Luncheon with Dr Jürgen Weber
Dr Jürgen Weber (c.), Chairman of the Supervisory Board - Deutsche Lufthansa AG spoke about the US financial crisis and how it affected the whole world. He told participants to view the present financial and economic challenges as an opportunity especially for German companies who have already adapted to the challenges of the globalisation.
